New freeports, East Midlands investment zone funding coming in Budget - Starmer

Sir Keir Starmer has revealed intentions to provide funding for five freeports across the UK and create an investment zone, in the Budget announcement.

The Prime Minister stated that the proposed plans aim to further the goals of his government by generating job opportunities and fostering investments across different regions of the United Kingdom.

Rachel Reeves is set to reveal the locations of the five freeports during the Budget announcement, on October 30th according to sources indicating that these freeports will be spread across the UK of being clustered only in England.

Sir Keirs announcement of funding for the investment zone, in the East Midlands builds upon the efforts already set in motion by the Conservative government.

During his discussions with journalists at a Commonwealth conference in Samoa the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the East Midlands investment zone in his push, for progress and growth.

"He noted that these regions attract investments and generate tens of thousands of employment opportunities, which is really encouraging news."

Angela Rayner revealed that funding has been given the light for two areas in West Yorkshire and the West Midlands at the Labour Party conference after the announcement of proposals for eight zones in the 2023 budget, by the government.

The future focus in the East Midlands will revolve around industries and is projected to center on Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire as, per the strategies laid out by the Conservative Party.

By 2033 it is estimated that designated investment areas in England will generate 89 thousand job openings and draw in a sum of £11 billion, from private investors.
