Gillette India posts higher Q1 profit on strong demand

Demand from areas in India has been increasing steadily in recent quarters due in part to a rise, in government expenditure.
During the quarter the grooming segments revenue grew by 23% reaching 6.49 billion rupees and making up 83 % of Gillette Indias total revenue.
Nevertheless the company has also been spending a lot on advertising.
Its spending, on advertising and promotion increased by 11% leading to an expense growth of 11% reaching 6,120 million rupees.
In the few weeks ago Procter & Gamble Co revealed an unexpected decline in sales for the quarter due to cost conscious shoppers in key markets like the United States and China opting for more affordable options, in health and family care items.
Gillette Indias stock saw a 3,7 % increase, before the announcement. Has risen by approximately 32 % since the beginning of the year.
