Unity appoints former King exec Steve Collins as CTO
Unity has just named Steve Collins as their chief technology officer.
Collins served as the Chief Technology Officer at King from February 2020 to March 2024. Also worked as a middleware developer at Havok and in mobile marketing, at Swerve.
He also established the computer graphics research group, at Trinity College Dublin. Introduced the MSc program in computer game technology there.
Collins mentioned that he has been keeping track of Unity for twenty years as it revolutionized the gaming industry and the creation of real time 3D content by empowering artists to bring their creative ideas to life and connect with audiences worldwide on various devices.
"I am incredibly thrilled to become a part of the skilled group working on the Unity Engine. I am eager to contribute to enhancing Unitys role as an ally, for its users."
Unitys CEO and president Matthew Bromberg mentioned that Collins possesses technical knowledge in the realms of gaming and marketing technology while grasping developers requirements well enough to make a significant impact in our efforts, toward providing customers with enhanced innovation and reliability.
Collins is set to assume the position previously held by Marc Whitten who departed this year without any explanation, for his departure.
