Topcon expands Topnet Live coverage across Western US and Hawaii - GPS World
October 31st, 2024

The Topcon Positioning Systems has made an expansion to its Topnet Live reference station service by including 180 full wave geodetic reference stations in states like California, Hawaii, Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Washington. This expansion aims to improve network corrections and provide centimeter level accuracy for industries like engineering, surveying, construction and agriculture. The upgraded service can also be advantageous for uses such as automated mowing, line marking and UAV operations for mapping and delivery in sectors, like the turf industry.

Topcon states that a major advantage for users is access to globally supported Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol (NTRIP). NTRIP delivers GNSS correction data for real time kinematic (RTK) positioning purposes and enables users to achieve precise accuracy in their positioning activities. Moreover the updated services also offer improved Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) coverage, with the goal of enhancing mapping precision.

Based the update from Topcon it is now easier to get Receiver Independent Exchange ( RINEX ) static files which means there are better options for static and static kinematic post processing available now than before. These upgrades offer users accurate positioning information and increased versatility for various uses, like surveying and precision agriculture.
