Tornado leaves Oklahoma City neighborhood picking up the pieces
On Sunday morning in southeast Oklahoma City a tornado hit the area causing damage and leaving residents shaken as they tried to salvage what remained of their belongings and properties after the storm passed through Sooner Road and Southeast 89th Street area Six people were taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries following this tornado which was one of several that struck across the state. "It was a downpour accompanied by thunder that startled us awake in the middle of the night " shared William White from the neighborhood as he recounted the experience of a passing train shaking their homes foundation with its loud and forceful presence. The following morning saw residents coming together to assess and clean up the aftermath of a tornado that struck amidst storm activity over the weekend. "You can always rebuild property but you can never replace lives " remarked White as he reflected on the destruction in the vicinity of Sooner Road and Southeast 89th Street where some houses were devastated and power lines entangled with homes impeded evacuation efforts." From my house nearby I could spot a few damaged houses down the street but the extent of the damage still took us by surprise " White shared gratefully acknowledging his fortune with minor roof damage and leaks, in his own home. "This doesn't even seem like the street I call home " remarked White as they reflected on the aftermath of the Oklahoma tornadoes that injured six individuals and caused damage in the area. A tornado struck near Sooner Road and Southeast 89th Street in the state recently among others causing severe damage and resulting in six individuals, from the vicinity being hospitalized with injuries that are not life threatening.
"That intense rain and thunder woke us up this morning " said William White as he recalled the moment when a loud and powerful train passed over our roof while we were getting up to check the news.
Neighbors were busy on Sunday morning cleaning up the aftermath of the tornado that struck overnight amidst continued storminess, in the area.
"That's the point, in my opinion " White mentioned."You can always replace possessions. You can't bring back lives."
Several houses close, to the intersection of Sooner Road and Southeast 89th Street suffered damage while tangled power lines obstructed residents from safely evacuating their homes.
"We could spot a houses near mine that are just, down the street over there " White mentioned as she reflected on the scene without witnessing the full extent of the damage."
He mentioned feeling fortunate to experience minor roof damage and a few leaks.
"It's just not the vibe, as my neighborhood " remarked White noticing the unfamiliar atmosphere of the street she calls home.
