November 5th, 2024

A school, in Oxfordshire is looking to grow to accommodate the rising need, for spots.

Heyford Park School, in the vicinity of Bicester has put forward the proposal to Cherwell District Council. Operates an 'all, through’ academy that educates students aged three to 16 across two locations.

The idea is to move the school to the Specialism Campus so that a greater number of students can enroll in the school located at the Officers Mess site.

Oxfordshire County Council stated that the school must accommodate a 150 students because of the housing projects, in the vicinity.

The application, for planning involves ensuring access, to the area is available. Improving its landscaping and biodiversity through enhancements well as addressing drainage needs and providing cycle parking facilities. Additionally it includes the restoration of a disused car park and the installation of fencing around the area.

New housing developments, in Oxford are set to replace an existing car dealership according to reports.

As of now there have been no comments, from the public either opposing or endorsing the matter at hand.

According to the documents outlining the plans, for the school established back in 2013 it was noted that the school is too small and lacks the space to adequately serve the needs of the community.

The official planning document mentioned that Heyford Park Schools secondary section should increase by one class to accommodate the growing need, for student spots due to new and upcoming residential projects, in the area.

The suggestion is to move the school to the Specialism Campus in order to allocate space, for secondary education at the officers mess location.

The high school plans to utilize the Specialism Campus, for sports activities moving forward. This change will lessen the necessity for a considerable number of students to travel between the two locations. This adjustment is expected to bring about advantages in terms of operations, scheduling and safety measures, for both the school and its students.

The plan offers advantages for the school in terms of education and efficiency by streamlining and combining the division of secondary (ages 11 to 16) which is currently spread across two locations.

"The planning request is, for approval of a single level addition to the specialty campus facility along, with the corresponding landscaping."

An extra building is needed to move the school from the Officers Mess location to the Specialism Campus. This will also make it possible for secondary accommodation and student spots to be added at the officers mess.

It mentioned that the suggestions are viewed as essential for achieving the goals and growth of the school in order to address the growing need, for student enrollment due to housing developments, in the nearby area and the ongoing expansion of Heyford Park.

"In addition, to creating spots for students to learn and grow academically " the plans will also offer valuable educational and practical advantages.

Moving the school to a location and expanding the facilities, for students aged 11 to 16 in the officers quarters will improve the operational efficiency of both schools.

The nursery and early years sections would be located next, to each other which would greatly decrease the necessity, for secondary school students to commute between the two sites throughout the school day.
