Cop's arm severed, police driver injured while removing bodies from railway track in MP's Damoh
A sub inspector in Damoh (MP) lost his arm and a police vehicle driver got injured after being hit by a train while rushing to the site of a fatality, on the railway tracks.
The event took place close to the Karaiya Bhadoli train station on Sunday evening. 260 Kilometers, from Bhopal.
During the examination it was found out when Mishra and his team were trying to move the bodies of the two individuals from the railway tracks; a train suddenly came and collided with them unexpectedly.
Witnesses said someone tried to rescue Mishra but accidentally cut off his arm and caused head injuries in the process.
"The situation will become clearer once the injured officers can provide their account " mentioned SP Somavanshi in a statement to PTi, at this location."
When questioned about how the police officers failed to notice the approaching trains effects the SP mentioned " It's still unclear why they didn't hear the train coming closer.We've heard rumors about them being on phone calls at the time of the incident. We need to confirm this information." Both Mishra and the injured driver Yawar Khan were taken to Jabalpurs Government Medical College for care.However due, to complications Mishras severed arm couldn't be reattached.
The officers will receive care in Jabalpur and may be airlifted to another medical facility if needed.
