Suffolk Chamber collects evidence of effects of hold-ups on 'neglected' A14

Local businesses in Suffolk are requested to assess the impact of the A14 and Orwell Bridge shutdowns, for their operations.

The Suffolk Chamber of Commerce is encouraging companies to participate in a survey regarding the road, which includes inquiries, about the impact of bridge closures and other concerns related to traffic congestion and delays.

They're inquiring about the negative impact these factors could haveon local investment, employment and the security of the national economy.

The local council members feel that over the few years there has been a consistent failure in policy implementation along the A14 stretch from Newmarket, to the Port of Felixstowe attributed to both national and regional decision makers.

The A14 Improvement Group is collecting information from businesses, in the area to demonstrate the urgent and continuous attention required from local authorities and transportation agencies to address persistent issues.

Chamber executive John Dugmore emphasized the importance of ensuring that businesses perspectives are clearly heard amidst the discussions surrounding the A14 road project.

Our research aims to offer proof on how ongoing delays changes, in routes and traffic jams are harming the business sector and how if not resolved promptly theres a chance that investments might flow to different regions of the country as a consequence.

The Suffolk Chamber is eager for businesses of all types and sizes, from sectors to join in the effort and aims to boost participation rates specifically from the haulage, energy, logistics and ports industries.

Paul Simon, the head of affairs mentioned that these industries are becoming increasingly crucial for the economic well being of our county and the broader economy, as a whole.

"No reasonable government should overlook studies indicating that businesses are increasingly burdened by rising costs associated with closures and traffic congestion."

The negative impact on Suffolk and the national economy is. It highlights the urgent need for policymakers to prioritize investments in improving the A14 infrastructure, including the Orwell Bridge and other roads, in Suffolk.

Businesses, in Suffolk must submit their feedback by November 29th for the findings to be shared with the public in the New Year.
