Canada Post, union sit down with mediator, but still 'far apart' as strike drags on
Representatives from Canada Post and the postal workers union met with a mediator on Monday in Montreal. Have not made progress towards a resolution, as a nationwide strike enters its fifth day.
Canada Post mentioned that the groups are still not close to an agreement but the government owned company is still striving for a resolution negotiated during discussions, at the bargaining table.
55 thousand workers who are members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers went on strike last Friday which led to the closure of services and stopped deliveries during the start of the festive holiday season.
The government chose its leading negotiator the day to assist in facilitating a fresh contract deal, between the two parties.
