Around 5 o'clock in the morning Moscow time today a Boeing 737 took off from an airport. Than an hour later at 6 thirty one AM reports started coming in about a tragic incident. According to Vilmantas Vitkauskas from Lithuanias National Crisis Management Center (NKVC) the plane crashed close, to an area.
There was a flash of light in the sky just before the accident happened according to eyewitnesses leading to assumptions that there might have been an explosion associated with the cargo on board possibly caused by battery packs exploding. However the NKVC stated that the crash was due, to " problems."

According to the information provided by LRTs police reports one pilot lost their life on site and four others sustained injuries.
Saulius Raseviskis from the crisis coordination department mentioned that two people were brought to the hospital and unfortunately one of them passed away; initial information suggests that these individuals were passengers, on the plane.

After the accident occurred The Wall Street Journal reported that according to intelligence sources Russian involvement was suspected in mysterious explosions at DHL logistics facilities, in Leipzig and Birmingham. The article alleged that the explosions were linked to a Russian mission.
The accusations were brushed off by Dmitry Peskov from the Kremlin as he mentioned they didn't have any proof to support them.
"The Kremlin representative stressed that both this publication and others that are often well regarded frequently share leaks, without any credible evidence to back them up."
