Tesla’s UK Sales Rise Amid EV Market Rebound
July 4th, 2025

The UK market experienced a rise in Tesla vehicle sales throughout June 2025 compared to June 2024 because of electric vehicle market growth and the new Model Y release. The data shows Tesla delivered 7,719 vehicles during June 2024 which represents a 14% increase from the previous year.

The UK automotive market experienced a 6.7% increase in new car registrations during June which became the best June performance since 2019 but did not reach pre-pandemic levels. The sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) increased by 39% to reach more than 47,000 units which now represent one-quarter of all new car purchases.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) explained that BEV sales growth resulted from strong industry promotions yet the market performance remains below required targets. Tesla's UK sales throughout the year have decreased while BYD has sold 2,498 units which represents a near quadrupling of their previous sales.

The first half of 2025 saw Ford achieve the highest EV sales expansion among U.S. brands through a more than fourfold increase from the previous year. Jamie Hamilton from Deloitte emphasized that charging infrastructure expansion remains crucial for maintaining electric vehicle market growth. Tesla achieved better sales in June but its performance indicates the intense competition in the UK market and ongoing manufacturer discount effects.
