Keith Kellogg’s Background and Role in U.S. Politics

Donald Trump has named Keith Kellogg as the Special Envoy, for Ukraine.

At the age of 80 years old retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg has been chosen by President elect Donald Trump to be the Special Envoy for Ukraine, for facilitating negotiations to resolve the ongoing conflict.

Kellogg served in the Vietnam War. Was a key figure in the "Desert Storm" mission as Chief of Staff of the 82nd Airborne Division before retiring from the military in 2003.. In Trumps presidential tenure. he held positions as Chief of Staff for the National Security Council and as National Security Advisor, to Vice President Mike Pence.

Proposed Peace Plan for Ukraine Conflict

In July year there were reports in the American media about Kelloggs suggestion to bring an end to the conflict by implementing a comprehensive "freeze" along the existing contact line and urging both sides to engage in talks. The proposal stated that Kyiv would receive military support from the U.S only if negotiations were initiated; otherwise Moscow would encounter heightened U.S assistance, for Ukraine.

The position of Special Envoy for Ukraine is not a feature, in President Joe Bidens administration but it is set to be established in the upcoming Trump administration.
