British Airways sues airport handlers for $1.2 million after almost 20 pounds of gold jewelry was stolen

British Airways has filed a $1.2 million lawsuit after almost 20 pounds of gold jewelry went missing from one of its planes.

The airline says it was engaged by Al-Arefi Jewelry to transport the precious cargo from Bahrain to Chicago in July 2023.

However, when the flight from London landed at Chicago’s O'Hare Airport, the jewelry was reported suing missing.

British Ground Airways Services is International, which is owned by the Emirati company dnata and provides ground-handling services at several US airports.

The suit, filed in Chicago last October, states that two GSI employees have been charged with stealing the jewelry when the plane landed at O'Hare.
